The effect social media has is truly magnificent. I have been so fortunate to meet so many different people over the last couple years. I discovered Katherine’s blog, Lake Effect Co., by a fellow blogger and friend, Sammy of My Midwest is Showing. We met briefly at a Rising Tide meeting in Milwaukee and again at a flower crown making party! Since then, I can’t stop checking out her posts and pictures to see what she’s been up to and obviously living vicariously through her fun adventures!
When I heard about Katherine’s blog, it just made sense. Her website centers around the lake life in Wisconsin and surrounding areas and how it has truly affected lives in a positive way. The lake life here in the Midwest is such a large constant in almost all seasons, whether you’re having a sunny lake day on the pontoon with friends or ice fishing on the weekend up north. There are so many different lakes in Wisconsin; you can enjoy the lakefront beach life at Bradford Beach or water ski on Lake Beulah.
Now as far as I’m concerned, I am a cat when it comes to water. I really wish the fast moving boats didn’t give me anxiety, but I can’t help but think they are going to flip at any moment. However I do love sipping a cold beer on a slow moving pontoon. I always joke with my husband that I hate anything that makes my heart beat. He is the exact opposite– anything that could kill him, he will try! Including going skydiving on a random Tuesday night like he did a few weeks ago. Michael grew up on water and has water-skied since he was a teenager. He was on the water ski team in college and takes advantage of getting to the lake whenever possible. He even purchased and rehabbed the cutest vintage Mastercraft ski boat which he coined ‘Dijon’ because it’s mustard yellow exterior.
In addition to the blog, Katherine designs and sells apparel, candles, cozies, and candles. She needed a model for her latest collection and naturally I didn’t have need an excuse to get in front of the camera and support a local business. You can shop all of her cute pieces here!
