If you follow me on Instagram you have seen that the Corners of Brookfield is one of my new favorite malls. Not only does it have stores that are different from a normal mall, there are more than five stores in the lifestyle center that are new to Wisconsin and me! Scout and Molly’s is one of the stores that I was introduced to, so I wanted to share my experience on my latest shopping visit. It is the only location in Wisconsin too!
I was instantly welcomed when I came into the store and was offered water or coffee which made me feel right at home. It was almost like I was at a girlfriend’s house borrowing some clothes. Kara, the Store Owner, was engaging and extremely friendly. She wasn’t a sales hound – yes, I know we have all experienced the pushy salesperson which ultimately makes you avoid shopping at certain stores. She instead asked me how I would describe my style and then gave me the vision of the store. It’s the perfect store for anyone between the ages of 20-60, and she doesn’t send anyone out the door unless they have found the perfect piece to complement their wardrobe. Kara told me that she won’t try to get sales if the item doesn’t look perfect on someone because she wants people to leave the store feeling fabulous. Mission accomplished with me. What I appreciated the most was when I tried on the clothes, the staff was completely honest. When someone tells you to try on a smaller size, you do it! #SelfEsteemBoost!
The store carries brands like French Connection, BB Dakota, Maven West, Gretchen Scott, Tart Collections, Love Stitch, Spanx leggings, Driftwood jeans, but what is really special is that Kara and her team pick everything that comes into the store. When customers are shopping, she takes the time to engage with them and learn what her clientele is looking for, and if there are voids, she can easily fill them. Kara empathized she love local and eco friendly companies. She doesn’t just carry an item because it’s cute; she likes brands that give back to the community and foundations.
I found this top and could’t wait to try it on. I mean the sleeves… A bow… Do I need to even say why?
Another reason I am drawn to this store is their interest in environmental friendliness of their products. My white handbag is by the designer Matt & Nat, which has been a favorite of mine for years. They use vegan leathers and eco-friendly materials like recycled nylon, cork and rubber. The lining of the bag is made out of 100% recycled plastic bottles and they are even introducing recycled bicycle tires to their collections.
The jeans are SO COMFORTABLE! I was actually doing lunges while shooting the photos! As you know, I don’t waste my time with cheap, crappy jeans, so discovering good quality brands is always great! I hadn’t been introduced to DL1961 before, but am a big fan. The wash on these jeans was what drew me in. I am a big advocate for day to night wear to save time and space in the closet. Also, finding a different color can avoid the jeans being ‘trendy’ and outdated.
This necklace was handmade by Bird’s Tail Jewelry which is located in Shorewood, WI. I love sharing local creatives on What Riva Wore. The rest of her pieces were adorable and so well crafted as well!

10 Apr 2018Ohhhh awesome!! I had to have the ruffle top! I have always stayed away from them assuming that they would look super bulky, this one is so flattering. I can’t wait to see what you find at your local store!
