Happy Monday! Not to get so serious to start off your week, but I have to tell you all a story…
Now I know I have often spoke on this issue, but taking photos this day in particular really brought it to a head… being appreciative of your life and what you have. As other bloggers may do (or I am just a psycho?) I am always scoping out locations and backdrops for my photos for my blog and for Instagram. I work in downtown Milwaukee and pass this building almost daily. It was the home to one of Boston Store’s oldest locations. As you may or may not have heard, all locations are closing. This is so sad to me because I not only worked at this exact store for many years (whoot whoot, shoe department) but have worked with the company for my blog as you may recall, here and here.
But back to the story… Gina (GE Creative) and I walked over to this little corner I have always loved and found both sections of it were blocked. One side with a shopping cart and the other with a homeless gentleman sleeping with his belongings spread over him. Luckily we were able to sneak in for some shots without disturbing him. But, it breaks my heart to see anyone homeless and most of you would not know I have experienced the struggles of it with a close family member.
So, the moral of my story is to always check yourself. I know we all have good and bad days, but remember, if you are reading this, you are well off. I take pride in and appreciate that I am so fortunate to be able to express my love for fashion and styling with all of you everyday.
Riva.
