Trends come and go, but there is one top trend right now that has been around for ages and isn’t going anywhere, plaid!
Whether it’s a casual top or a dress for a function, you can’t go wrong. I have already purchased WAY too many plaid blazers this season, however, I know I will have them for years to come.
Naturally, I find some of my favorite pieces of clothing at my favorite new lifestyle center and mall, The Corners of Brookfield. The stores and selection they offer are always unique and on point. My goal for this post was to show you the versatility of plaid and how many options there are for fun looks… And believe me, I tried on almost every plaid item at the mall, so I’ll make your search too easy. I’m going to show you my favorites from a couple of different stores and finish with the look I chose for a day to night look! Don’t get me wrong; it was a blast!
Have you tried the plaid trend? Enjoy the journey below!!
Riva.
First stop, Evereve… I started with a black and navy twisted top by Peyton Jensen which would be perfect under a blazer or paired with a fuzzy scarf! This is a more subtle plaid so that it can be paired with a different patterned top. Don’t be afraid to try unexpected patterns together. You would be surprised at how often they pair perfectly.
These cozy teddy pullovers are all the rage right now. This one was almost impossible to take off because it felt like a hug from a cloud. I find that the teddy pullovers I see are always solid prints and boring, not this one! Not only was it adorable, but it’s also socially acceptable to wear out in public…. and bonus, it’s entirely on trend and wasn’t too bulky.
Scout & Molly’s Boutique is my go-to store at the Corners for fun everyday funky tops and comfortable bottoms. I would be lying if I told you I don’t do lunges every time I try on their pants and leggings… Don’t believe me, ask Kara the Owner! These adorable plaid leggings were comfortable, but business casual appropriate. When you work in an office, dress pants can be such a bore and let’s be real, when it really is cold outside, all I want to do is put on a pair of leggings and boots.
This BB Dakota blazer would fit perfectly in my closet because I have nothing like it. It’s chic and unusual but won’t go out of style and it’s a fun piece to jazz up any classic blouse. I paired with a cozy white tied t-shirt.
This department store is new to Wisconsin and until recently, was completely new to me. I had never heard of Von Maur, but they have seen my face quite a few times since they opened. The offer designer brands for a gala look to premium denim for everyday looks. Their plaid selection was quite large and it was fun to shop the looks from casual to dressy. As you can see, I tried on quite a few styles and even tried some pattern mixing, do you like how it looks?
Ding, ding, ding! I found my winner. This unique mustard top from Altar’d State was perfect for a day to night look.
If you’re unfamiliar with Altar’d State, you have to see the location at The Corners. Right away when you arrive you’ll notice the outside of the boutique is so unique in architecture. The visual merchandising is top notch and the store is impeccably decorated. Their selection ranges from tops, dresses, funky pants, to amazing jewelry and accessories! The first store opened in only 2010 in Knoxville, TN, and there are over 100 stores today. One of the reasons I love The Corners is because most of the stores are new to Wisconsin and are so unique, Altar’d State being one of them! I have been introduced to so many new businesses, I can’t wait to see what else is coming!!
I knew this statement sleeve top would be a great day to night piece of clothing! I paired it with over the knee boots and my funky Harry Potter Danielle Nicole crossbody for the day look and added a fur vest and swapped the shoes for a heeled boot to hit the town at night. What I loved about this top was the colors, so unique!
