I have always wanted to stay at the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa. When I think of Lake Geneva, I think of the lavish and prestigious hotel. I mentioned in a previous blog (here), the hotel’s grounds always have the best decorations during the holidays, so I was thrilled for the opportunity to stay. Upon arrival at the resort and spa, you feel cozy and warm. The resort and spa offers 356 guest rooms and is conveniently located for visitors coming from Milwaukee or Chicago. With a private golf course, 20 downhill ski runs, multiple swimming pools, and activities going on daily, you will never be bored at the Grand Geneva!

If I could go to an all inclusive resort once a year, I would be a happy camper. There is nothing better than traveling, storing your wallet (minus tipping money),…
Chicago, New York, Miami, and Seattle: what do all of these cities have in common? They are the pillars to the United States, and I have to visit them all. Seattle was the lastest trip, and I LOVED it!
Michael and I were lucky enough to get the Southwest Companion Pass, meaning we spent way too much money on house renovations and this was a friendly kickback from our favorite airline. The Companion Pass means Michael flies anywhere in the United States with me for an entire year. Due to craziness and life events, we have only been able to go to two places, Colorado earlier this spring and now, Seattle!!
I have a soft spot in my heart for the Historic Third Ward, so when the opportunity to collaborate with its most desired hotel presented itself, I was thrilled.
Cue in the Kimpton Journeyman Hotel.
Why do I love the Third Ward so much? I actually lived in this historic neighborhood for over four years and have enjoyed watching the transformation it has taken over the last ten years. When my parents told me they had purchased a condo in the Third Ward and we would be moving from Wauwatosa (halfway through my junior year of high school!) I was so confused, but was reassured that I would stay at the same high school AND have a huge closet. Little did I know, I would be in the prime location of Milwaukee, minutes from everything, and obviously, living in the coolest neighborhood in Milwaukee! Not to mention when college came around, I had the most desirable hang out spot before heading to Summerfest (one of the largest music festivals in the world) or out on the town for the evening. The Historic Third Ward, which is one of the most visited areas of Milwaukee, is also known as an art district specifically for its Gallery Night and Day event, which takes place four times each year. It’s full of character and is always booming with locals and tourists alike.
I was ecstatic to hear Milwaukee was getting it’s first Kimpton Hotel, the Journeyman. I visited the Kimpton Monaco Hotel in Denver, Colorado a few years back, and was blown away by the service, decor, and ambiance. I knew a boutique hotel would be the perfect addition to our city and the location was so fitting. What was even more exciting is that it would be built right next to my parent’s condo so I can visit them and head over to the hotel’s rooftop bar after.
When the Journeyman Hotel opened, I immediately went to check it out. I was blown away by the luxe interior design and the meticulous attention to detail found even in the smallest nooks and crannies. Featuring stunning light fixtures, an inviting fireplace, and mid-century modern decor, the hotel caters to all tastes and is the perfect addition to the Milwaukee hotel portfolio, as there is no other hotel like it.
Besides the stunning interior design, there are other amazing amenities the Journeyman offiers: their social hour for guests featuring free local brews, their pet-friendly vibe, with pet sitting and dog walking services available, a pool table in the lobby and a personal, complimentary yoga mat in your room. You will be entertained during your stay, for sure.
I have been following Refinery29 for YEARS now. They have the most amazing articles that are honestly so honest and so real life, and so relatable to life! Naturally, when I got the email about 29Rooms telling me I couldn’t miss it, that bait click got me… I looked into it, and WOW, SO COOL! The best way to explain the traveling exhibit is as an Instagram playground. But don’t get me wrong, although the art exhibits were #goals, they all had deep meanings. Each ‘room’ or art installation was created by an artist who drew inspiration from their life, society or what the hell, just for fun! Take a look!
Riva.
You may or may not know… I have a restaurant named after me in Chicago, Riva! Okay, it’s not named after me, but unless the owner is reading this… I will claim it is!
Memorial Day weekend isn’t just an extended holiday weekend for me and my husband Michael. May 25th is our wedding anniversary and it almost always falls on the holiday weekend. To kick off the celebration of seven years of marriage, I planned a weekend that we would both enjoy; a night at the Iron Horse Hotel and a weekend of brunching and exploring Walker’s Point. Michael has been dying to get to the Iron Horse and the hotel was kind enough to partner with us to start the weekend off great.
The Pfister Hotel is a landmark in Milwaukee and I am so proud that we have such an amazing place to represent out city. I had the honor of sharing a girls night there with three of my favorite Milwaukee bloggers. We were wined, dined and pampered, and I have probably too many photos to share, but a photo really is worth a thousand words. The beautiful hotel was built in 1893 and has continued to be the ‘it’ hotel in Milwaukee.
Let me take you along on the two day #staycation we enjoyed… We arrived in style and a naturally had to document the stunning exterior of the hotel. The intricate facade has a very vintage, but inviting feel. I mean, even the flipping parking lot has curb appeal. Now, if you have been to the hotel, you know how indescribably beautiful the lobby is… Take a look at the photos below. In addition to the ornate painted ceiling, there are beautiful pieces of art mixed throughout the entire hotel.
