My Boyfriend’s Jacket

I’m not going to lie, these photos were taken when it was cold enough to wear a jacket. Although, here in Wisconsin you never know when to put the jackets and boots away… June? July? who knows, every year is different.

I came into work wearing this blazer style coat and immediately my co-worker Melba (me in 30 years) told me she liked my ‘boyfriend’s jacket’. I said, ‘HUH?’ She told me they called that style back in the day, your boyfriend’s jacket. When she said that, it immediately made me think of a high school letterman’s jacket, but loved the idea of ‘my boyfriend’ vs the ‘the quarterback who I would never have dated in any case’, concept.

Wondering why I didn’t say my Husband’s jacket… He would NEVER wear anything like this, ha! You know the saying, “doctor’s kid is always sick”, well I need a saying something like, “fashionista’s husband never gets new clothes”.

Transitioning into Spring

Not sure what to wear? Well I am with you on some level. It could be 20 degrees in the morning and then you are sweating by 3pm. Example number one: it just snowed eight inches last week and I wore open toed shoes the week before. Not much you can do about it other than deal and try to make the best… Or maybe move to Florida.

When thinking about this transition time, I try to pair items that can fit in two seasons. I got this funky cropped jean jacket from Pretty Little Thing. The ruffle adds a bit of femininity to the style. Pairing it with a floral jumpsuit was my way to feeling an ounce of Spring!

What do you wear in the awkward in-between times?

I spent the holiday weekend in SinCity with my Husband for our anniversary. I know, weird place to go for an anniversary trip, but we aren’t really normal, ha! Michael had never been and wanted to see what all the hype is about. I wanted to get some nice weather, be able to walk the strip sipping prosecco and shop at the luxury stores, we both left happy!

Art in Bloom

Floral and fashion. What else do you need in life?

A few weeks ago I was honored to be asked by the Milwaukee Art Museum to take over their Instagram account as a guest journalist for their annual Art in Bloom exhibit. Naturally, my answer right away was yes, of course after I freaked out a little (or a lot)! I have always wanted to attend the installation of where local florist are assigned an art piece to interpret and create their own arrangement to be shown to the public for a weekend.
