Champagne & Charcuterie With Sendik’s Food Market

Champagne and charcuterie are two of my favorite things in life.

They pair so well together and I feel so fancy consuming both. So, when the opportunity came to partner with Sendik’s for my annual ladies wine party at my home, I knew this theme would be a blast. Deer Widows Weekend is the opening weekend of hunting here in Wisconsin and to me, it’s the perfect opportunity to have a get together with my girlfriends.

My husband and I have been renovating our 1911 farm house since we purchased it back in 2017. We completed our kitchen and moved on to the dining room. After tearing out ceiling tiles (if someone can tell me why any sane person would put commercial ceiling tiles in a residential dining room, I’ll give you $50), painting the walls, redoing the built in bar and multiple other modifications, we finally came to the fun part, decorating! We knew we needed new furniture but were very unimpressed with the quality, look, and price tag of most dining room tables that we decided to make our own. We picked out a beautiful elm wood live edge slab from Kettle Moraine Woods and Michael is crafty enough to weld and set the base. I knew this party was the perfect opportunity to show it off and of course, top the entire thing with cheese, meats and other charcutierie goodies.

I went into the Mequon Sendik’s location the day of my party and was able to work with a cheese specialist to craft my vision. I wasn’t judged for my lack of cheese knowledge. The cheese department at Sendik’s is the holy dairy grail! There are SO many choices and varieties to choose from. I was recommended a few favorites and I appreciated the honesty throughout the visit. Something else I really loved, a large inventory of the cheese is from Wisconsin.

In addition to the cheese, Sendik’s offers a variety of charcuterie meats, crackers, nuts, dried fruit, and more. I personally am obsessed with the olive bar! It’s a great way to try a variety of olives without having to purchase a large jar.

A few cheeses to try:

Rush Creek Reserve: This cheese is only available during this time of year and the loyal cheese enthusiasts anticipate its arrival. This cheese is delicious, fresh, soft, and worth the $29.99 per wheel price tag.

Hoard’s Dairy BelAire: This mild and creamy cheese was easy to eat and paired well with the champagne. Sendik’s did a demo and customers loved it so much they sold out and created a demand at another location for it!

Henning’s Cranberry Cheddar: Anything cranberry gets me in the mood for the holidays! This yummy cheese has a perfect mix of sharpness and sweet. The cheese is only available in November and December so hurry in to pick up a chunk!

How to Make the Perfect Charcuterie Board

It’s easy. Take it slow, space out the contents, and experiment with the arrangement of color and texture. Charcuterie boards are fun because there is no right or wrong way to do it! The most important thing about the board is the ingredients, so if you’re looking for delicious cheeses, meats, and more, visit your closest Sendik’s Food location!
